Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour three 9-inch round cake pans.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until combined.

Mixing

  • In another bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the mashed bananas, eggs, and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and mix until well blended.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with buttermilk. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  • Gently fold in the chopped pecans.

Baking

  • Evenly distribute the batter among the prepared cake pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

Layering and Serving

  • Once cooled, place one layer on a serving plate, spread caramel sauce between layers, and repeat until all layers are stacked.
  • Drizzle caramel sauce over the top before serving.
