Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined Fresh, juicy shrimp that add a burst of flavor.

For assembly

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed This flaky pastry will be the irresistible exterior.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Start by melting the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Once melted, add the minced garlic.
  • Add the shrimp and cook for 2–3 minutes until they turn pink. Season with salt and pepper.

Make the filling

  • In a medium-sized bowl, combine cream cheese and half of the shredded cheese.
  • Once the shrimp have cooled slightly, add them to the bowl and stir until well combined.

Roll the pastry

  • Roll out the thawed puff pastry slightly on a floured surface and cut into rectangles.
  • Spoon the creamy shrimp filling near one edge of the pastry, then roll tightly, sealing the filling inside.
  • Place the roll seam-side down in a greased baking dish.

Bake

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Brush the tops of the rolls with egg wash and sprinkle with remaining shredded cheese.
  • Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown and flaky.

Garnish & serve

  • Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes.
  • Sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

For an extra kick, consider adding a pinch of red pepper flakes to the shrimp as they cook. If desired, add herbs like dill or chives to the filling. Puff pastry can be delicate, so work quickly but gently to avoid tearing.
