Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and generously grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the vanilla extract and mix until incorporated.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the butter and sugar mixture, mixing until just combined.

Assembly

  • Press half of the dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan.
  • Spread the cherry pie filling evenly over the crust.
  • Crumble the remaining dough over the cherry filling.

Baking

  • Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the cherries are bubbling.
  • Allow to cool completely, then cut into bars and serve.

Notes
