Ingredients

For the filling

  • 5 ounces crab meat, drained Fresh, flaky, and juicy, providing the perfect foundation for your filling.
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened Creamy and rich, adding a luscious texture that binds the ingredients beautifully.
  • 1 green onion, finely sliced Aromatic and vibrant, contributing fresh flavors and a pop of color.
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce A dash of umami that elevates the overall flavor profile.
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce (optional) For those who enjoy an extra hint of savory depth.
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder Infusing the wontons with warm, robust garlic essence.

For the wontons

  • 18 pieces wonton wrappers Light and crispy, serving as the perfect stage for the mouthwatering filling.
  • Oil for frying Required for achieving that coveted golden-brown crispiness.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine crab meat, cream cheese, green onion, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce (if using), and garlic powder. Mix until well blended, creating a flavorful filling.
  • Place a wonton wrapper on a clean surface. Spoon about 1 teaspoon of the crab mixture into the center of the wrapper. Avoid overfilling to ensure a proper seal.
  • Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water and fold into a triangle, pressing the edges firmly to seal. For a unique touch, bring the corners together and pinch to form an intricate shape.
  • Repeat the filling and sealing process for all the wrappers.

Cooking

  • Heat oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 350°F (175°C). Carefully fry the wontons in batches, turning occasionally, for about 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Remove the fried wontons and drain them on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
  • Serve warm alongside your favorite dipping sauce, such as sweet chili or soy sauce.

Notes

For a crispy exterior, ensure the oil is hot enough before frying. If the temperature is too low, the wontons may absorb excess oil and become greasy. Experiment with different dips for variety; a homemade spicy mayo or tangy teriyaki sauce can surprise your guests.
