Ingredients

Meatball Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef succulent and rich, providing the heartiness of the dish.
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs for a delightful texture.
  • 1 large egg binds the mixture and adds moisture.
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped aromatic and slightly sweet.
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder adds a warm, savory note.
  • Salt and pepper to taste, essential for enhancing flavor.

Sauce Ingredients

  • 1 can (14 oz) jellied cranberry sauce the star of the dish.
  • 1/2 cup chili sauce adds a tangy kick.
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar to balance the tartness.
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce imparts a complex flavor to the sauce.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, chopped onion, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well incorporated.
  • Form the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place them on the prepared baking sheet.

Cooking

  • Bake the meatballs for 15-20 minutes, or until browned and cooked through.
  • While the meatballs are baking, heat a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  • Combine the cranberry sauce, chili sauce, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce in the saucepan. Stir until smooth and heated through.
  • Once the meatballs are cooked, add them to the saucepan with the cranberry glaze. Gently stir to coat.
  • Allow the meatballs to simmer in the sauce for an additional 5-10 minutes.

Serving

  • Serve the cranberry meatballs warm, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

For a healthier option, use lean ground turkey or chicken instead of beef. Chill the meat mixture for 15 minutes before forming meatballs to help them hold shape during cooking.
