Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter 1 stick, creating a rich and creamy base
  • 6 oz high-quality dark or semi-sweet chocolate chopped or in chips
  • 2 large eggs providing structure and moisture
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar sweetening the cake to perfection
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour adds a delicate texture

Optional

  • powdered sugar for dusting before serving

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease four ramekins or individual cake molds generously with butter or a non-stick spray.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the unsalted butter and chopped dark or semi-sweet chocolate. Heat in the microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring in between until melted and smooth.
  • Allow the melted chocolate mixture to cool slightly. Whisk in the eggs, granulated sugar, and flour until fully combined into a glossy batter.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared ramekins, filling them about two-thirds full.

Baking

  • Place the ramekins in the preheated oven and bake for 12-14 minutes. Check around the 12-minute mark to ensure the edges are firm but the centers remain soft and gooey.

Serving

  • Let the cakes cool for 1 minute. Carefully invert the ramekins onto serving plates and serve immediately, optionally dusted with powdered sugar.

Notes

Ensure your ramekins are well-greased and monitor baking time closely to achieve the right gooey center. Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for a delightful experience.
