  • as needed tablespoon extra sugar for rolling Gives a sparkling finish.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a small saucepan, combine the fruit juice, lemon juice, and water. Heat over medium heat until warm, but do not let it boil.
  • Sprinkle the gelatin powder over the juice mixture and whisk until fully dissolved.
  • Stir in the granulated sugar and continue heating until fully combined and the sugar dissolves.
  • Remove the saucepan from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
  • Pour the mixture into a silicone mold or a lightly greased baking dish to form your desired gumdrop shapes.
  • Allow the mixture to set at room temperature for several hours, or place it in the refrigerator to speed up the process.
  • Once set, remove the gumdrops from the mold or cut them into cubes if using a baking dish.
  • Roll each gumdrop in granulated sugar, coating them evenly. Optionally, dust with cornstarch to prevent sticking.
  • Store your homemade gumdrops in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks.

Notes

Mix different fruit juices for a rainbow effect. For a firmer texture, allow the gumdrops to sit longer before cutting. Experiment with natural food coloring for vibrant shades.
