For the Mashed Potatoes

  • 2 large russet potatoes, peeled and cubed Foundation for creamy and comforting mash.
  • 1/4 cup milk Adjust for desired creaminess.

Preparation of Mashed Potatoes

  • Place cubed russet potatoes into a large pot of boiling salted water. Cook until fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain and return potatoes to the pot.
  • Add butter, milk, salt, and pepper to the potatoes. Mash until creamy.

Cooking the Steak Bites

  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add steak bites, searing on all sides for about 3-4 minutes until browned and caramelized.
  • Lower heat to medium, then add butter, minced garlic, and chopped parsley. Stir gently to melt the butter and release garlic's fragrance for about 2 minutes.
  • Taste for seasoning and adjust with salt and cracked black pepper as needed.

Serving

  • Serve a generous portion of creamy mashed potatoes on each plate, with steak bites alongside. Drizzle remaining garlic butter over both dishes.
