Ingredients

For the Rice

  • 2 cups rice, fluffy and aromatic
  • 3 cups chicken broth, rich and savory
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce, providing depth and umami
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil, adding a nutty flavor
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder, delivering punchy aroma

For the Beef

  • 1 lb boneless sirloin steak, thinly sliced, tender and juicy
  • 1/4 cup teriyaki sauce, sweet and savory
  • 1/4 cup honey, enhancing the sweetness
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated ginger, for warmth and zing

For the Salsa

  • 2 diced tomatoes, fresh and vibrant
  • 1/4 cup diced red onion, adding crunch
  • 1 each jalapeño pepper, chopped, for a spicy kick
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro, bright and refreshing
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice, for a tangy twist
  • 1 teaspoon sugar, balancing the flavors

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a small bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, red onion, jalapeño, cilantro, lime juice, and sugar. Stir well and set aside to let the flavors meld.

Cooking the Rice

  • In a large pot, bring chicken broth to a boil. Add the rice, soy sauce, sesame oil, and garlic powder, stirring gently to combine.
  • Lower the heat, cover, and simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until the rice is tender and fully cooked.

Marinating the Beef

  • In a bowl, mix the teriyaki sauce, honey, and grated ginger. Add the thinly sliced beef and marinate for at least 15 minutes.

Grilling the Beef

  • Grill the marinated beef until cooked through and slightly charred, typically about 3-4 minutes per side.

Assembling the Dish

  • In a serving dish, layer the cooked rice, grilled beef, and fresh tomato salsa.

Serving

  • Serve immediately and enjoy the fresh, savory combination.

Notes

For best results, let the beef marinate longer if possible. Serve with salad or yogurt sauce for contrast, and consider variations with different proteins or rice types.
