Preparation

  • In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until browned and crumbly. Drain excess grease.
  • Add the finely chopped onions (and bell peppers if using) to the skillet. Sauté for about 3–4 minutes until soft and fragrant.
  • Stir in the tomato paste, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly and pour in the water. Let it simmer for about 10–12 minutes.
  • Cook your hot dogs according to preference—grill for smoky char or boil for tenderness.

Assembly

  • Place the hot dogs in the buns, smother them with the sloppy joe sauce, and load up with desired toppings.

Notes
