  • to taste salt & pepper enhancing the overall taste profile

Finishing Touches

  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped plus more for garnish, providing freshness
  • 1 tsp lemon zest contributing a hint of brightness

Instructions

Preparation of Seafood

  • Start by heating the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the shrimp and a pinch of salt along with the Old Bay seasoning, sautéing for about 3-4 minutes until the shrimp turns pink and juicy. Gently fold in the crab meat and remove the seafood mixture from heat.

Making the Sauce

  • In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and chopped onion, cooking until soft and fragrant (about 2-3 minutes). Gradually stir in flour to create a roux and cook for an additional minute. Slowly whisk in whole milk and heavy cream, letting it simmer until the sauce thickens (about 5-7 minutes).

Preparing the Ricotta Mixture

  • In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, fresh parsley, lemon zest, and a pinch of salt. Mix until well combined.

Assembling the Lasagna

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish. Begin layering with cooked lasagna noodles, followed by a ricotta mixture, the seafood mixture, and a layer of white sauce. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese and repeat these layers, finishing with noodles, remaining white sauce, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese on top.

Baking

  • Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and broil for what will be an additional 5-7 minutes or until the cheese is golden and bubbly. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute heavy cream with more whole milk. Adding vegetables enhances flavor and nutrition. Use high-quality seafood for best results. Allow lasagna to rest before slicing for better shape. Red pepper flakes can add a hint of heat.
