Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened salted butter and freshly shredded sharp cheddar cheese. Beat until well blended and creamy.
  • Gradually add the all-purpose flour, mixing until just combined.
  • Add kosher salt, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, and black pepper. Stir until evenly distributed.
  • Fold in the finely chopped pecans until well mixed.
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thickness. Cut into desired shapes.
  • Place on the baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For different flavors, experiment with herbs like rosemary or thyme. Use different cheeses for variety. Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
